The summer months of June, July and August is usually the season where everyone relaxes and takes the time to enjoy the great outdoors. The weather is starting to warm up across the globe and the summer months are quickly approaching and if you a lucky enough like my parents are, traveling to other countries is almost certain to be on your itinerary this summer. What an exciting time this can be and traveling across the globe is easier and safer than ever before. With a little planning and some caution, you can safely visit most destinations.

Exposure to the sunlight is not all bad, quite the contrary, the sun’s rays is an excellent source of Vitamin D which aids in the absorption of calcium. The problem usually starts with an overexposure to the sun with can have some very negative consequences, most notably it can also lead to skin cancer.

So, to avoid spoiling the perfect summer vacation, here are a few simple steps you can take to enjoy the long hot summer days, with no regrets.

• Remember to apply sun block when going out. The higher the sun protection, the better. So, a sun block with an SPF of 25 or higher is best. SPF 30 Sunblock is perfect, its waterproof, PABA free, UVA & UVB protection.
• Sunbathing is alright but don’t do it every day...Don’t overdo it!!!

• Wear sun shades, light shades of clothing because they deflect the sun’s rays and Wear protective clothing like extended sleeves.

So no matter where you are, you must protect yourself from the harmful effects of the sun. Although the morning sun ray is good and loaded with Vitamin D; it is the mid-day sun up to the the afternoon that is rather harmful.
